There have been some well-substantiated rumours recently that some lawyers, particularly in the larger firms, are a little short of work in the current climate. Some firms have come clean and admitted to a few redundancies - others have been more cagey.
But today incontrovertible proof of the seriousness of the situation arrives in the form of an e-mail. MSI comes in for severe criticism for having, amongst its 250 member firms, one law firm that has amongst its staff 15 male attorneys ... and no females.
You've probably guessed the next bit. The sender of the e-mail appears to want to preserve his relative anonymity by using a personal e-mail address. He does provide his name, but its not particularly unusual. He does, however, show his telephone numbers, including his office number.
Now, whilst we at MSI continue our efforts to seek out strong mid-sized firms that meet a series of strict criteria that we believe are important, we would, of course, be happy to forward the e-mail to the managing partner of DLA Piper's San Francisco office ... if he or she is anxious to know which of the partners in that office does not appear to be fully employed ...
Happy New Year
